My Review:
I was thrilled to be chosen to review and read this book, especially since I'm pregnant with my third child! In the past I had read many books on the market for pregnancy and childbirth, I searched online aimlessly trying to obtain as much knowledge as I could but none of that research hit the spot like Tori Kropp's "The Joy of Pregnancy". She has literally obtained information on just about anything you could think of when it comes to pregnancy, from the hopes, the fears, to the Dad's point of view and how he can help you through the wonderful transition, even those silly questions you are sometimes afraid to ask, and especially the joy of pregnancy.

I really enjoyed reading "You are giving birth, vaginally or by cesarean. You are giving birth". Especially because I'm having my "3rd" c-section on September 9th and I "have" to, it wasn't because I was afraid or how my Perineum would survive or because of fear of pain, they have all been medically chosen (doesn't help that I have "monster" sized kids on my petite frame either). In the past cesarean section was something that wasn't covered in many books.. it would only be mentioned as an "emergency route" and that was all there was to it, this leaving many women scared and confused. Even some doctors didn't like to mention this procedure but its starting to become more and more a route some Mothers end up having to take. I like how she was very thorough about the reasons, the fears, the questions, the medications used, and even the glam popularity of c-section today.

This book is extremely up to date, there was a lot I read in the book that I hadn't even heard about before! Just as times are changing so is each and every pregnancy! Even now on my third pregnancy I am no "expert" and there is always new knowledge to be obtained , this book is a must no matter how many children you have. I would also recommend that the Father of your child read this book either alone or along with you as a great way to be supportive in your pregnancy. What I'm getting at here is this is definately a "must-have" book for anyone that is considering becoming pregnant or is pregnant! Loving Heart Mommy highly recommends it!

Tori Kropp is a Perinatal Registered Nurse and an international figure in the field of women’s health, pregnancy and early parenting. She is known as the “Dear Abby of Pregnancy” and has helped deliver thousands of babies.

Tori is particularly passionate about the need for women to balance their lives. The years throughout pregnancy and raising young children are critical life stages during which women need the support of other women through their shared experiences. She remarks that, “We have surrendered our intuition and common-sense to the so-called “experts”. Those with knowledge and experience can provide us with guidance but the time is long overdue for us to reclaim that trust in ourselves”. Her mission is to help women make sense of what they learn and to apply what’s right for their own lives. “It is so important, in the current climate of our culture, to come to a place of greater lightness and humor, especially in approaching the joys and challenges of pregnancy and parenting.”

She is also the founder of two companies in San Francisco, PillowTalk® Modern Childbirth Education, and Wild Wild Web, Inc. which created the website, Stork Site® in 1995. StorkSite.com was discontinued in 1999 by Women.com/iVillage and her newest venture, StorkSite.net continues with the uniqueness of a true Internet community.
