Sam Feels Better Now - A Review

Title: Sam Feels Better Now
Author : Jill OsborneIllustrator : Kevin Collier
ISBN-10: 1932690603
ISBN-13: 978-1932690606

From the Publisher:
Sam saw something awful and scary! Ms. Carol, a special therapist, will show Sam how to feel better. Children can help Sam feel better too by using drawings, play, and storytelling activities. They will be able to identify and manage their own feelings and difficulties in their lives following a traumatic event, crisis, or grief.

My views: I love the fact that this book is helping with children who have went through a traumatic experience. The interactiveness of the book helps to make the transition of the situation a fun one after experiencing something very frightening or scary. I as a parent can totally relate to how the situation is resolved by turning something scary into something to not be feared.

The character Sam shows children that he is becoming comfortable with his counselor, children can can relate to the character because it very helpful to have a visual of a situation either in a book like this or even on television. It is very explanatory and is explained on a level a child can understand, I recommend this book for ages 4 and up, anyone who's been in a situation like this can really benefit from this book.

My children's view: My son enjoyed coloring the pages in the book, so we would read page by page and I'd actually copy the coloring pages for him to color after we read the story, so we could use the book over and over again if needed. He actually listened to the story as I read along, he seemed to be able to relate to Sam in his own way, we are going through a situation constantly with his Dad being out to sea.

My dislikes:

None whatsoever this book is great! Great for counselors who work in this type of field, great for Mom's, Dad's, Grandparents, practically anyone who knows a child who may be going through a similar situation!

Thanks to Parent Reviewers for the opportunity to review this book!
