Thanksgiving, a time to be "thankful". Well we should all be thankful throughout the year but this is a time set-aside for our families to get together and to be thankful for one another.
Thanksgiving Memories:
One year I can't remember quite how old I was at the time, my Mom made a pumpkin pie full of salt instead of sugar. God Bless her there have been times where I have over-seasoned something or just plain forgot the sugar. Salty Pumpkin Pie.. definately different. :)
Last year we went up to Indiana with our friend and had 3 Thanksgiving dinners! He had a pretty big family and there was tons of food! My husband tried one of the desserts "Peanut Butter Pie" (a family recipe) and they were surprised he was able to eat the whole slice (due to it being really sweet and rich). He impressed them all.
My husband and I try to cook our own mini-Thanksgiving dinner for two, this year it will be for 3 since Gabriel is eating more "people" food as I call it, instead of baby food.
This year we are going to be doing things a bit different, I'm thinking to try to attempt to make that Peanut Butter Pie, along with some sugar filled Pumpkin Pie, a good ol' turkey with all the fixin's and of course some classics like our red mashed taters! Recipes coming soon and after Thanksgiving I'll have the pictures of our mini-feast for "2" , oops I mean 3.
