Celebrate Women in Leadership Series
with Dawn McCoy
During the month of March 2010, Dawn McCoy, author of Leadership Building Blocks will highlight great women in leadership during Women’s History Month.
To Kristinia:
Thank you for allowing me to be a guest blogger today at Loving Heart Mommy Accessories. Today, in the Celebrate Women in Leadership series, I want to highlight Jennifer Louden, author, motivational speaker, and “Lilly’s mom.”
Jennifer Louden, motivational speaker and author of The Woman’s Comfort Book: A Self-Nurturing Guide to Restoring Balance in Your Life has made a remarkable contribution as a woman leader in my regard.
Louden has had media appearances on Oprah, MS-NBC, CNN, and nearly one hundred news shows in most major markets. She has hosted her own radio program on Sirius, enjoyed satellite radio and TV media tours, and has been a presence on the Internet since 2000. She is known as a leading spokeswoman for finding your center and creating a healthy lifestyle despite busy schedules.
In addition to her writing, she is a life coach and workshop who emphasizes the importance of self-nurturing as she defines it as the courage to pay attention to your needs. She frames how to refresh and rediscover who we are when life happens. In that way, we can find the freedom to determine our destiny and clearly make next steps.
Too often we put others’ needs ahead of our own and Louden emphasizes how we as women pay the price. We suffer from ailments, exhaustion, and a variety of negative self-defeating behaviors. We neglect to pay attention to what matters most – ourselves, our families, and our personal goals.
Another fascinating part about the work that Louden does it to host The Comfort Café, an online sanctuary designed to help other find their voice and live the desired life. She shows others how to support spiritual grounding, maintaining self-confidence, and taking care of self without feeling guilty. This nurturing community helps readers and participants maneuver life’s challenges and perils.
Louden wrote a prolific reference tool to provide suggestions about what to do to address a specific ailment or challenge. She provides a range of serious personal exploration tools to seemingly silly to thought-provoking and intuitive hints.
Finally, what is so endearing about Jennifer Louden is her authenticity. She candidly shares that her favorite name is “Lilly’s mom.” How wonderful is it that there’s a dynamic woman trailblazer supporting others who takes the most pride in her title as mother?
Hats off to Jennifer Louden for creating an online environment, books, retreats, and motivational messages that really reinforce comfort for every woman’s spirit.
